Parish Visitation to Damascus College
On Tuesday 13th March at 10:00 am Fr Kevin Maloney invited parishioners from St Aloysius Redan and St James Sebastopol Parishes to tour the College, have some morning tea and to pray the Station of the Cross in Our Lady of Mercy Chapel. This provided a positive and new experience of Catholic Secondary Education for those who attended. Led by Tony Haintz, Assistant Principal for Catholic School Culture, the group caught up with some of the story of the College that can be discerned by noting the signage on the College buildings.
Morning Tea was served in the open space in Level 2 of the Bishop Connors wing after the short tour.
We don’t have Stations of the Cross in Our Lady of Mercy Chapel. The stations that we do have are in the Mercy Administration Wing and were made by Sr Margaret Mary Batros RSM, the first Fine Arts teacher at St Martin’s in the Pines. A PowerPoint of the stations was created and with a text provided by the parishes the prayer recalled the passion and death of Jesus. The PowerPoint will be a resource for the Holy Week Prayer in the extended TA on Tuesday 17th March in the final week of term.
